Torch Corals (Torches) are part of the LPS (large stony polyp) coral group. They belong to the genus Euphyllia, which includes their cousins the Hammer Coral and Frogspawn Coral. Torches are unique corals that love showing off in the current, showcasing their long fleshy tentacles, each with a glowing colored tip, resembling a torch, hence the name!

Torch corals are relatively easy to care for, thriving in both moderate light and flow conditions. They need pristine water conditions containing low dissolved nutrients to really let those colors 'pop'. If you do decide to get your hands on one of these beauties, then give them ample space in your aquarium, as they are known to attack neighbors with their potent cnidocytes if they get too close.
